Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee is a college governance committee that is charged with reviewing all new proposals and revisions to curriculum for academic programs. Academic programs include all credit transfer courses and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and courses. The aim of the Curriculum Committee is to ensure that students acquire knowledge, skills, attitude, and behaviour to become excellent medical Professionals to provide holistic health care to all. There must be integrated institutional responsibility for the overall design, management, and evaluation of a coherent and coordinated curriculum.
  • Objectives

    Ensure that the design and structure of a curriculum meet the established curricular goals and objectives.
    Monitor all aspects of the curriculum.
    Ensure adequate coverage of all competencies throughout the curriculum.
    Ensure Vertical and Horizontal Integration.
    Evaluate all aspects of the curriculum periodically.
    Functions of Curriculum Committee.
    Plan a calendar of events for the courses.
    Prepare a course-wise master rotation plan for the academic year as per the curriculum.
    Ensure the provision of adequate instructional resources.
    Identify curriculum problems, find solutions, and take corrective measures.
    Obtain and review feedback from various sources of the curriculum and instructional programs such as students, alumni, and stakeholders.
    Facilitate the teaching-learning process.
    Identify strategies to improve creativity and academic excellence.
    Enhance progressive growth of the Institution by adding and expanding courses and programs offered by the College.

  • Functions of the Committee

    Provide leadership in curriculum development at the college.
    Provide oversight of all new courses and programs to ensure that academic standards are maintained.
    Recommend graduation requirements and general education requirements for the associate of arts and associate of sciences degrees to the general education.
    Provide a forum for innovation in teaching and learning.
    Review programs and courses in a systematic manner on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept current and relevant.
    Assure that curriculum decisions are held accountable to the mission of the college.
    Oversee academic program review and course and program assessment.
    Design, review, and maintain a responsive integrated curriculum.
    Serve as a resource to departments and individuals for understanding the curriculum process and assist in developing new/refined programs and courses.
    Review course/program changes in terms of their impact on college programs, departments, workloads, schedules, equipment, and resources.
    Review course/program changes and proposals and recommend approval based on compliance with state and accrediting guidelines as well as transferability to other institutions of higher learning.
